VDO Viewline – new products added to the family
VDO instrument series now expanded. New products to be displayed at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam from Nov. 16 to 18, 2010.
Frankfurt, October 28, 2010. Just in time for METS, Continental is presenting new product highlights from VDO. The VDO brand is not only known for high-quality components in passenger cars, commercial vehicles and special vehicles, it has a strong reputation among ship equipment suppliers and boat builders, who value the company’s forty years of experience in marine instrumentation. Now six new products have been added to the Viewline navigation family: Viewline Wind, Viewline Close Hauled and Viewline Depth Sounder, Viewline Sumlog with compass, Viewline Pitot tube speedometer and Viewline mechanical water pressure gauge.
Viewline Wind displays the apparent wind direction and speed. In addition, if the wind sensor supports this function, it shows the air pressure and outside temperature. It also offers the option of setting an alarm threshold for wind speed. The Viewline Close Hauled has additional features. It displays the apparent wind direction, expanding the indication by a factor of two. The expanded display allows users to detect changes in wind direction more quickly and to react to them swiftly. The other display functions correspond to those in the Viewline wind gauge.
The Viewline Depth Sounder allows users to measure the depth under the keel. Additionally, it has an alarm for shallow water.
The tried and tested Viewline Sumlog also has new features. Besides displaying the speed, depth and distance traveled, it now has a compass function.
Two new mechanical gauges are now also available: a speedometer and a water pressure indicator which operates using the reliable back pressure method.
Multifunction devices have also been added to the Viewline portfolio. By combining two or four displays they save space, cut costs and minimize the effort required for wiring and maintenance. Currently Viewline offers a 2-in-1 gauge (tachometer / trim gauge) and a 4-in-1 gauge (voltmeter / pressure gauge / temperature gauge / fuel gauge).
Besides offering technically sophisticated solutions, VDO Viewline has versatile designs that harmonize with any interior. All displays can be mounted flush or with bezels. Dials are available in two colors and bezels in three colors and shapes.
With its expanded portfolio, VDO offers top-quality technical solutions for custom instrumentation in motor yachts and sailing yachts. Viewline products can also be integrated into machinery for agriculture, construction, forestry and industry. Small production runs are possible for manufacturers of motorcycles and sports cars.
